I was a staff officer (Navy JAG) and ended up working for a SEAL Team in Subic Bay Philippines.
They liked my skills with high explosives.
I was a trial lawyer (brawler not scholar) and my job was to get any SEAL back if he has held by a foreign power from Pearl to Oman East Africa (about 1/3 of the Longitudes).
I could practice is all those foreign Courts.
I was trained as a diplomat and did not have to wear a wig.
I did see the entire Navy magazine in the jungle behind Cubi Point.
I handled a LOT of Summary Courts Martial for ships tied up at Subic or Cubi.
I helped Olongapo be a safer place for US Sailors. This required eating a lot of dog, I must have eaten canapes of three whole dogs. Diplomacy does matter. I was well accepted by the Philippino lawyers near Subic, Cubi, and Clarke field.
I Served on the USS Coral Sea, and on the USS Constellation. We went into danger waters near the South China Sea.
