This is plainly within Pope Leo’s right to decide. The Church is run by the Pope, not by a Committee of Cardinals.

The person who wears the ring of St Peter and sits in the Chair of St. Peter decides the rituals and doctrines of the Catholic Church.

Right or wrong, it’s Leo’s call.

The Cardinals have a duty to toe the line. And not announce their own ideas.

Pope Leo got his authority from a Conclave of Cardinals.

Once it’s there — he has it.

His duty is to be in charge. Call the shots. Be courageous. They got the right man for that. Leo is a lion of courage.
