The West Puts Itself in the Worst Possible Light

We show Roman culture based on gladiators and nailing people to crosses. We show Nazi fanatics based on gassing people to death. We show slavery, and the long ages of discrimination after slavery.

What do we expect China, India, and African nations to think of us? Do we hope to be admired? Do we hope that the “values” of Western culture will be adopted?

It looks to me like the future belongs to China, Japan, and India, not to England, USA and Europe.

We do not present ourselves well. Other nations hide a lot of their history.

Why do we not emphasize Greece, or Israel, or Norway as the stories that show what we are all about?

Here’s why — There is no “we”. The West is just a gaggle, of motley crew. It is not a “core culture” that seeks its own adoption or survival.
