Sapiens, an odd species.

Rome was the most brutal culture the world ever saw. People hacked each other to death as a form of amusement for Emperors to watch (The Coliseum). People were nailed up on crosses if they said words that were not approved (Jesus). There were 2 World Wars, the second one ending in atom bombs being used to kill whole cities full of people (Hiroshima, and Nagasaki). After the second world war one nation USA emerged unharmed mostly and took over leadership of mankind. The only artistic attainment of USA was in architecture 1920 to 1945. Frank Lloyd Wright and LeCorbusier designed buildings of merit and interest, that even the Greeks would have admired. Japan and China are emerging as major powers in 2026, a moment of instability for Sapiens when many humans are without food, shelter, or security. No other species has had a record of conduct that compares with Sapiens. We imagine ourselves to be wise, but we give convincing evidence that we are berserk. We hope to colonize other planets, and if we do, perhaps we could make a better show there — perhaps on Mars, or Ganymede.
