AI is a tricky gimmick designed to fool you into thinking that somebody is talking to you when actually nobody is talking to you. It is NOT mainly based on “computing” power. It is based on mass storage systems in data centers that can look up every word in your input and all their possible meanings. Then, a very simple computing device can form a noun phrase plus a verb phrase that includes terms looked up from the data center and that SEEMS to be responsive in some way to what you said. 5 in 6 people are FOOLED. 1 in 6 people are NOT FOOLED. So, that adds up to a lot of fooled people. So AI is seen as some sort of actual intelligence, when actually it is wires on a chip running electrons according to an algorithm. We have very little knowledge, so most of us are fooled by a digital gimmick. The belief in AI can be converted into cash money. You can imagine that some “intelligence” is telling you what to choose, buy, select, or how to vote. The less actual intelligence you have, the more you are likely to imagine this. But stupid people CAN vote and buy things, and be counted in surveys. To rule the stupid is to rule mankind. Gimmick is better than philosopher for a king. Gimmick adds power, support, cash money, and ability to produce outcomes. The ancient Athens, they were not seeking rule by the stupid. Cicero tells us that Rome was not seeking that either. Jefferson tells us that USA was never seeking that. But here and now, we gotta deal with what’s real. My own goal is to get a better place to live. Netherlands, Germany, Malta, whatever.
