Jesus was a perfect sign, sent by God, to mankind.

Jesus must have the fate that was foretold. The saving of mankind requires it. But at great cost to Jesus. An MI-6 dagger also would have worked very well. The Pharisees might regard the fall of Judas as a sign that maybe they should not kill Jesus. Jesus was also not MI-6 or Delta Force. He even called for the forgiveness of those who crucified him from the Cross. He saw himself as a sacrificial lamb of God. In his own mind, he was a sign, not just a person. Any person who so chooses can also be a sign of something beyond himself. All humans can point to God. Can intend the will of God. Can seek admission into Heaven.
